This is the second part in a series of interviews relating to medicine; this is the third interview within this part. The links for the other interviews can be found here: Interview 1 - Hyeamin, Interview 2 – Dr. Duffin, Part I and Part II.
The end goal is to provide all of us with a greater understanding of medicine and learn a whole bunch of interesting stuff along the way.
I’ll just quickly outline what we discussed. You’ll have to listen to the interview to get it all.
- Her first husband serving as an army doctor in Vietnam, and the terrible impact it left on him.
- Most of my questions have been thrown out the window by this point.
- Duffin: You can’t really strategize. Josh: Damn.
- We discuss the investment of time and money in you life. If we knew we were going to pass away in 10 years, what would you do?
- Have to enjoy yourself in the present moment.
- Nature of internal medicine (link); why she loves it.
- Dr. Duffin questions me about my ambiguity regarding medicine.
- Life science is getting better, but it still needs some work.
- Why don’t we talk about the big (research-based) questions?
- Big classes and a bit on freaking out in PHIL 201 (Philosophy in medicine).
