This is the second part in a series of interviews relating to medicine; this is the third interview within this part. The links for the other interviews can be found here: Interview 1 - Hyeamin, Interview 2 – Dr. Duffin, Part I and Part II.

The end goal is to provide all of us with a greater understanding of medicine and learn a whole bunch of interesting stuff along the way.

I’ll just quickly outline what we discussed. You’ll have to listen to the interview to get it all.
  • Her first husband serving as an army doctor in Vietnam, and the terrible impact it left on him.
  • Most of my questions have been thrown out the window by this point.
  • Duffin: You can’t really strategize. Josh: Damn.
  • We discuss the investment of time and money in you life. If we knew we were going to pass away in 10 years, what would you do?
  • Have to enjoy yourself in the present moment.
  • Nature of internal medicine (link); why she loves it.
  • Dr. Duffin questions me about my ambiguity regarding medicine.
  • Life science is getting better, but it still needs some work.
  • Why don’t we talk about the big (research-based) questions?
  • Big classes and a bit on freaking out in PHIL 201 (Philosophy in medicine).
